ék is an interdisciplinary project by the sound and movement, trumpet and trombone duo composed of Montréal-based brass players Émilie Fortin and Kalun Leung. The project builds on a new mime-sound vocabulary that combines wordless storytelling performed by one instrumentalist while the other instrumentalist creates “Foley” sound effects using only their instrument (either trumpet or trombone).

Émilie Fortin (trumpet), Philippe Lauzier (saxophone) & Kalun Leung (trombone) form a trio named Williwaw. Their common curiosity manifests itself in the augmentation or transmutation of their instruments through the activation of performative objects. Improvisation is at the heart of their shenanigans.

The Burning BRASs Band is a feminist brass and percussion band based in Montreal and in operation since the summer of 2022. Composed exclusively of women and gender diverse people, this artistic project's mission is to increase the place of women, trans, non-binary and queer people in the music scene.
